Fri. Oct. 15th Iroquois |
The Durham Crusaders PeeWee teams first game of the 2010 season against Brock. The boys were eager to start the season, and none were too sure what to expect. The Crusaders came flying out of the gate but were surprised by a fast Brock team who could move the puck very well. By the end of the first period the Crusaders were down 5-0. The second period saw the boys pull it together and battle back to score 3 goals in a game that was getting more and more physical. Despite terrific goaltending the Crusaders dropped thier first game 9-4. |
Sat. Oct. 16th Iroquois |
With their first game under their belt, the Crusaders moved on to game number two at home vs. Orono. Bad news came early as a questionable call in the first period saw the Crusaders bench get shortened by one player. The coaching staff scrambled to make up new lines as the first period came to a close. Although the team had some good scoring chances and stellar goaltending the end result was a 3-1 loss. |
Fri. Oct. 22nd Woodville |
A long trek up to Woodville on a Friday night. Our Crusaders fought hard but couldn't generate many scoring opportunities. Many thought that the game had been called off at the end of the second period when both teams went to the dressing room and the Zamboni came on the clean the ice! The stellar goaltending kept the score within reach but a 6-2 score was the final. |
Sat. Oct. 23rd Sunderland |
A beautiful autumn day welcomed us to Sunderland. There was a pre-game delay as the refrerees were late from plowing the fields. The Crusaders got down early with a quick goal from Sunderland but looked competitive in the first period. Batteling back from a 3 goal deficet the boys closed the gap to 3-2, but couldn't keep the momentum going. The many outstanding saves from our goalie wasn't enough to pull out a win. Final score 9-3. |
Fri. Oct. 29th Schomberg |
The first game of the Schomberg Red & White tournament saw our Crusaders up against the Beeton Stingers. The defence looked much improved thanks to the efforts of the coaching staff over the last several practices, but the forwards failed to put one in the net. In the end it was a tough fought battle with the boys coming up just short losing 1-0. |
Sat. Oct 30th Schomberg |
A penalty filled game against the home town Schomberg Red Wings. While Schomberg was racking up penalty minutes, they were also racking up the score. A viscious cross check knocked one of our boys out of the game! We didn't win this one folks! |
Sun. Oct 31st Schomberg |
Happy Halloween! Pretty scary getting up at 6am to get back to the last round robin game of the tournament. If the boys were to score 3 or more goals and win every period they could have gone on to the semis. Unfortunately, the team from Penetang was very good, both on offence and defence. The boys tried thier hardest but came up short. Trick or Treat? |
Tues. Nov. 1st Ops(?) |
With our first tournament behind us and a tough hour and a half practice on Monday night, the Crusaders looked organized, disaplined and ready to go! The first period ended in a scoreless draw, but saw many opportunities for the boys to score and a much better looking Crusaders team. The hard work paid off getting two goals in the second and leading the game 2-1. Intense pressure, solid goaltending and hard work rewarded our boys with their first win of the season, topping Ops 4-1. |
Fri. Nov. 5th Iroquois |
The Crusaders were looking for revenge for a 9-3 loss earlier in the season against the Sunderland Red Wings. After allowing the first goal and going down a man due to a checking from behind penalty the boys started to cook! Terrific passing and going to the net got the Crusaders a 3 goal lead going into the third. The boys decided to make it interesting allowing Sunderland to come back and make it 5-4 with a few minutes left in the third. The Crusaders hung on and got thier second win of the season. |
Sat. Nov. 6th Iroquois |
Another rematch this weekend, this time against the Woodville Woodmen. The boys gave it all they could and looked much better than when they played the Woodville team the first time, but had to settle for the same result, a 6-2 loss. |
Fri. Nov. 12th Iroquois |
Offence, Defence, Passing, Shooting, Goaltending, this game had it all! The boys look like they are playing as a team and enjoying the results. Final score 14-0 against a weak Ops team. |
Mon. Nov. 15th Oakwood |
A trip to Oakwood on a dark November night! Our Crusaders were first on the scoreboard closing out a close first period 1-0. A couple of lucky goals and a few non-calls by the refs saw our boys go down 3-1 at the end of the second. A couple of quick goals by Mariposa put this one out of reach for the Crusaders, but there was some bright signs of good play and another outstanding performance by the goaltender. |
